Dr. Todd Zink
Owner, Veterinarian
By the time he was five years old, Todd Zink knew he wanted to become a veterinarian. Since birth, he had been surrounded by all types of animals—dogs, cats, ducks, fish, hamsters, and even chameleons, cockatiels, and Amazon parrots! Such a colorful menagerie of pets instilled a love of animals in Todd from a very young age.
Born and raised in Joliet, Illinois, Todd started pursuing his dream of performing veterinary medicine even before college. He spent many years volunteering and observing at local veterinarian’s offices and kennels, gaining valuable experience that—along with his significant academic achievements—led to his acceptance at Iowa State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. At the ripe age of 23 (the youngest person in his class!) Dr. Zink graduated with his DVM degree and started his veterinary career.
Dr. Zink took over as the owner and medical director of Roselle Animal Hospital in December of 2012. At Roselle, he covers all aspects of veterinary medicine, including illness, trauma and emergencies, wellness care, dietary counseling, behavioral counseling, and certifying pets for travel, but he has a special interest in dentistry and surgery and wants to advance the care provided to his clients in those areas. Some of Todd’s most memorable surgeries include heart surgery on a 12-week-old lab puppy and major hernia repair on a week-old kitten!
Outside of work, Todd’s wife, Gio, and three daughters, Donna, Alana, and Briana, are the light of his life—he claims that they know this and take advantage of him shamelessly! Dr. Zink’s daughters enjoy swimming, fishing and basketball. The family has 3 cats, Noche, Aladin and Bert and 1 puppy “Rosey”.
Todd enjoys spending time with his family, reading, fishing, and all types of water sports. He especially likes scuba diving—NAUI and PADI certified in scuba diving, Dr. Zink is currently working toward his Rescue Diver and Dive Master certifications! Between his family, work, and hobbies, Todd would like to find the time to restore the 1967 Ford Mustang he has owned since he was 17 years old.
